May 2019 Update
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. (Philippians 1:3-5, NIV)

One more time, thank you very much for partnering with us. Without your support and especially your prayers, our ministry would not have the spiritual impact that it is now able to.
Time seems to have flown by, and we are already nearly halfway through 2019 – another year of serving the Lord at Emmanuel Roatán Honduras! God is great to allow us to be experiencing growth.
We would like to thank Tracey Larter from St John’s Vancouver Anglican Church (ANIC), who comes to Emmanuel Church every year to support our ministry.
This past February Tracey came to help us build a gate for the church but, to our surprise, City Hall was doing some work that same week to improve the road, so she left without seeing the gate installed. Later on, we did the installation work; thank you, Tracey, for helping us financially to finish the gate. Tracey also worked with Angie, who is learning how to play piano, and gave her tips for improvement.
On the social side, at the beginning of the year, a group from St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, in Tampa Bay, Florida, came on a cruise ship to Roatan, and brought backpacks and schools supplies for over 30 kids from Emmanuel church. This awesome donation really helped the families of our congregation especially as it came at the time of the year when parents need to buy their kids everything they need to start the school year.
Thank you to St. Anne’s Episcopal Church for their generosity that had a real impact on families’ economic situations, and especially blessed all the kids who benefitted from these donations.
This is Fernando’s, a young boy of 17, who arrived at Emmanuel over 5 year ago when we moved to the site to build the church. He helped me to sand all the doors of the church and to varnish them to protect them from rain and sun. At the same time he was able to earn some money for the work, and now we have doors that look like new.
On the spiritual side, at present we are doing a discipleship course on spiritual maturity, and a group of 15 people are taking the course; praise the Lord. We continue with home meetings (cell groups) in different locations.
Mother’s Day celebration at Emmanuel: The men’s group and the youth group got together to celebrate Mother’s Day. We prepared a special dinner for the mothers, and the youth group served the guests of honour attentively, and all the mothers were really happy.

On the financial side, we continue to be very positive and to pray and praise God with faith and thanksgiving. We also ask you to continue to pray about our finances and that in the rest of the year our support will stabilize and be sufficient to cover our needs. At the moment our balance is very low. Therefore, please consider sending a special offering to cover our expenses and needs.

Please continue to pray for:
- Continued and stable financial support for the next three years as we continue to serve the Lord on Roatán, Honduras.
- The ongoing construction in Coxen Hole. Pray for the remaining installation stages: Cement concrete for the floor and ceramic tiles.
- Our congregations: St. Peter by the Sea in Brick Bay, and Emmanuel in Coxen Hole.
- Please pray for the Rev. Robert Browning and for his new ministry to English-speakers at Eastern Roatan.
- Pray for the Rev. Kara Mejia and Jennifer Guzman from the church in Brick Bay, that they will represent our Church in Roatan and the Dioceses in a Episcopal Youth Event (EJE), in Panama this coming July 2019.
- For youth leadership, that God will provide someone to minister to and guide the young people.
- Spiritual and practical outreach in the local communities.
- For leadership for the Church in Roatán.
- The Episcopal Church in Honduras, for the process toward self-sufficiency by the end of 2019.
Thank you to all who have faithfully prayed and faithfully given to support this incredible work of ministering to the people in our congregations.
Matthew 25:40: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Your prayers and continued support enable us to continue touching people’s lives with Jesus’ love.
This prayer is one of the oldest poems in the Bible. It is a beautiful way to say thank you to someone for their love and care:
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face to shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26, ESV)
