Planting Church in Coxen Hole

From a room to an open place.

We started meeting in our home, then we moved from place to place. It has been a blessing that over a month ago we moved to our own place. Now we have a home for the church in Coxen Hole.

In September, we began meeting under a tree for the first time. The Municipality has approved installation of a septic system and construction of a tarp, so as a congregation we meet at the site on Sundays. Electricity is in the process of being installed so we will soon be able to move the services from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, a better time for people to attend.

This is great progress: water, washrooms and a septic are also in the process of being installed.

We are very grateful to God for your partnership with us, as part of God’s plan for the church in Roatan.

Several short-term teams from Canada are planning to help with the construction of the new church and sewing center in 2014/15.

Thank you again for your prayers and financial support for us and for the Coxen Hole church plant.

Thank you for blessing us with the opportunity to serve the Lord in this part of the world, by preaching the good News and increasing the Kingdom of God.

We declare the favor and all the blessings from Heaven for you, your church and your country.

1 Corinthians 3:7  So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Thank you very much for your prayers and support as we serve the Anglican Church in Honduras on the island of Roatan.

Looking back, we are encouraged to see the growth in the congregation in Brick Bay, from about 6 when we arrived in 2006 to about 40-50 today. Kara leads the services there with Nelson’s help. Coxen Hole is the largest town on Roatan, and we are working to help a congregation that has grown from zero to between 20 and up to 30; Nelson leads the services there with Kara’s help!

As you may know, the Coxen Hole congregation has been meeting in temporary accommodation in a room. However, we have an offer on a piece of land for which we want to have the legally approved land transfer of the ownership of the land; it has passed Stage 1 (out of 3!). We very much pray that it will be completed by July or August.

The land cost $40,000 and we are hoping that the full amount will have been raised soon, so that future donations can go towards the construction, which would start later this year/early 2013 after the land transfer is approved. Once the land is cleared and serviced, we would plan to put up the first building as a combined church and sewing training area; this will cost about $50,000.

Please continue to pray for us while we are in New Brunswick until mid-July and for the two congregations in Roatan in Brick Bay and in Coxen Hole, as well as for several potential short term teams from Canada who will come to help us.

May God continue to bless you…

  1. I think you are very brave to exercise your faith in Coxen. I don’t mean promote your faith as in a religion, but to use your personal faith in God to express your trust in Him. There is no doubt that you will succeed in your endeavours. With God all things are possible. As I have found out too. Greetings from one who walks in prayer daily, in the “jungles” of Toronto.
