Ministries continue in Roatan
The ministry of the Church in Roatan has not stopped; We continue impacting people’s lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been our responsibility to equip those whom God has placed in our hands for every good work of service, as Ephesians 4:12 says to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up!.
Pastoral Visit of the Bishop to Roatán
Our Bishop Lloyd Allen has been trying to visit the Churches in Roatán since May 2020 and, as we all know, many things have changed since then. Finally this year on April 7, 2024 the dream came true and Bishop Lloyd arrived in Roatán to visit us pastorally and hold confirmations and receptions in both Churches. It was a veritable feast and our congregations had the opportunity to talk with the Bishop of the Episcopal church in Honduras, and some parishioners met him for the first time.
On this occasion Bishop Loyd confirmed 20 members and received one person into the church. We had an excellent time and the congregation was very pleased with the Bishop’s visit, and his commitment to visiting us more frequently and learning more about the ministry of the churches in Roatán.
We give honor and glory to Jesus Christ for his blessings, especially for those who were confirmed and received. Now we pray that with God’s help they will remain in their faith and Christian life.
Couples’ Event
Healthy families lead to a healthy congregation, or at least that is what is expected. We recently held an event for couples at the Church with the purpose of strengthening their marital relationships. The event was attended by about 20 couples from the Church who were strengthened with very good teachings for marriage. At the same time they had fun with some dynamics and had the opportunity to enjoy a special dinner, prepared especially for them and beautifully presented.
At this special event, each couple had the opportunity to reflect and think about their statements for their marriage, which they wrote, and these were printed in the form of a diploma to hand to them so they could take them and have them at home.
This event was sponsored financially and logistically by Paty Durner, a Missionary serving the Lord Jesus Christ on the Island of Roatán.
Mother’s Day
Men got together to celebrate with a special dinner for the mothers in our churches.
Each mother was very touched by all the things that had been prepared specially for her.
Family Events
Our daughter Kelly is finishing the 11th grade, necessary in the Honduran system to apply for university, and her graduation will be June 8th. Then her graduation from High School (12th grade) in the American system will be in June 2025 and then she will be able to apply to universities in Canada.
It is with great honor that we share with you that our son Stephen is engaged to be married to Brooke Buchanan this coming August 17th in Midland, Ontario, where they will be living.
We will be traveling to Canada from August 13th to 21th to celebrate with them and with family. Congratulations to Stephen and Brooke.
Financial Support
On the financial side, we continue to be very positive and to pray and praise God with faith and thanksgiving. We also ask you to continue to pray about our finances, that for the next year and in coming years our support will stabilize and be sufficient to cover our needs.
At the moment our finances are stabilized; in fact, we NO LONGER have a negative balance, thanks to all the parishes and individuals that prayed and considered sending donations to make this possible. Praise the Lord!
Please consider helping us keep our balance stabilized; we are trusting in God that He will provide.
